About the project

Simplon is a school of reinsertion through code and digital technology. We support them in the creation of Simplonline, an educational platform that allows all students and trainers to benefit from adapted tools during their training.

Since 2019, we have been supporting Simplon in the redefinition, deployment and constant evolution of Simplonline. After 4 months of redesign, the v3 (third version) of Simplonline evolves every month to always remain in line with the expectations of its users and stakeholders.

The design of the platform is organized according to agile methods. Developers, Designers, Product Owners and End Users communicate regularly in order to ensure the success of the project.

The problems addressed

Simplonine is the platform that transcribes Simplon's unique pedagogy. The platform must thus reconcile ergonomics adapted to the 15 countries using it and the necessary functionalities, framed by the pedagogical profession.

01
A trainer/learner relationship

The basis for learning, which can now be lost on LMS and which represents an important challenge in our mission.

02
Difficult skill monitoring

In particular between the various stakeholders in charge of monitoring learners.

03
A disruptive pedagogy

This overturns more common uses and must be transcribed as simply as possible on the platform.

04
A tool that is too complex to handle

Because the tool pushes new uses and users must make a greater cognitive effort, which is why it is important to offer them the easiest UX to understand and use.

05
Disruptive navigation

With new functionalities that accumulate over time and are added to an obsolete tree structure.

06
Managing constant change

The maintenance of the design system and the use of sufficiently scalable components.

The challenges of the project

_____

01
Accessibility

Accessibility standards for educational tools are important because if they are not respected, this can cause a real obstacle to the learning of some learners.

02
Pedagogy

Simplon has its own pedagogy and the Simplonline platform transcribes it. The stakes are high because it is not the product that is based on the habits of its users but quite the opposite.

03
Inclusion

An important value at Simplon, which must be felt on the platform, whether through accessibility or posture.

04
Agility

We work daily with Simplon's developer teams and the dialogue between the two is essential to successfully design and evolve a product as complex as that of Simplonline.

05
Product adoption

Following the 2020 redesign, +80% adoption on the platform. It must be maintained and improved.

06
Retention

Being a business tool for trainers, it is important that Simplonline offers simple interfaces and adequate user paths if you want its users to stay on top of it.

Project methodology

Unlike the agency's other projects, with Simplon we work in agile mode with a 100% product logic, combining design rituals with different parts of the project and the design thinking methodology within each site:

01
User research

At the start of each new project, we organize individual user tests or group focus groups to understand the frustrations and needs of users.

02
Ux-Ui course design

Creation of new user paths or improvement of existing ones.

03
User tests

Once the paths are validated by Simplon and prototyped, we get users tested and make changes based on test results.

04
Technical reviews

Last step in the process, synchronizations with the developer team to check the feasibility of the models.

Our collaboration in a few words

Since we worked on Simplonline V3 in 2019, we have carried out various missions to improve the product. We work on a daily basis with their development team, their teaching team and their PO.

Today, we continue to support the Simplonline agile team in the delivery sprint by sprint in order to continuously improve uses. Every day, we help Simplon across 15 countries to strengthen the coherence of its brand and digital pedagogy.

“The collaboration with the studio is excellent in every way! The agreement and exchanges with the studio teams are of very good quality, the work provided lived up to our expectations, and at an affordable price. Camille and her team know how, from sprint to sprint, adapt to our requests, produce numerous routes and alternatives to give us different perspectives. We are convinced that our collaboration, which started in 2019, is destined to last over time.”
